Yes, it’s official. I love my Apple Pencil 2 and don’t care who knows about it! It took me a while to make this decision but after around 8 months of owning it, I couldn’t live with out it. I spent a long time considering maybe buying an Apple Pencil 1 or even a cheaper stylus first to see how it performed. But in the end, i just decided to make the plunge. It was the best decision I ever made and here’s why.
It’s So Useful
The practical applications of it make it so easy to manage my workload. I can quickly switch between pen and eraser with a quick double tap. I’ve even started writing articles on my iPad Pro so my pencil just rests above the screen just waiting for me to quickly touch up a photo for my latest article.
It’s great for graphic design but it’s equally useful just for making some finishing touches to photos. It’s also good if you just suddenly think of something and want to make a quick note. I realize that you could just use Siri, but sometimes you want to draw something to quickly illustrate your idea to someone. All you need to do is a quick tap with the Apple Pencil on the iPad and a note will open up so you can draw your idea, simple!
The idea of it being able to magnetically charge is a great idea. Not only does it make it easy for me to quickly use it, but it‘s also not cluttering up my desk space and it’s also charging! My Apple Pencil 2 has yet to go under 90% battery as it charges so quickly and holds it’s charge for a really long time. I imagine there are more experienced artists out there that drain the battery on it, but I’m nowhere close. Which brings me to my next point.
It’s User Friendly
Now, I know it’s basically just a pencil, so it definitely should be user friendly. But, for me, I’m completely new to art and I find it helps me out so so much. I can’t draw a perfect circle and I probably never will, regardless of how much I practice. But, with the Apple Pencil, I don’t need to. There are so many useful illustration Apps out there that can help you out by automatically fixing your circles and straightening out your wobbly lines. Just take a look at the picture below. It was the first thing I ever drew with my Pencil and I’m so so impressed with how it turned out.
Even though the Apple Pencil 2 is mainly used for the iPad Pro, it doesn’t mean that you need to be a pro to use it! To recap, its practical, its useful and its user friendly. What more could you ask for?
