It’s rumored that Apple will release the new Mac mini in 2017. The company has disappointed fans for a long time, as there are no words on the device. They last updated the Mac mini on 16 October 2014. And there are not any updates in 2015, and even hardware news at WWDC 2016. So, it’s high time that Apple updates the mini. When first released in 2006, the device was well received, as it does have potential ability to work as an advanced computer. So, Apple fans are looking forward to a refreshed Mac Mini 2017.
The Cupertino-based tech giant should unveil the new Mac mini during the March 2017 event. If not, it’s very likely that it has discontinued the product line.
The Mac Mini 2017 is expected to come with the Intel Kaby Lake processors that would represent a significant power boost over the current Haswell ones. The new processors will also provide 4K video support, and especially ship Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.2. Plus, the new entry-level model will feature new graphics chipsets, Polaris 10, by AMD. It is also expected to include 8GB RAM instead of the standard 4GB RAM, and of course the 500GB hard drive. It may also have the USB Type-C ports.
Speaking of design, the Mac mini will come in a new design. We could get thinner and smaller one. The current models are 3.6cm high, 19.7cm wide, and weigh 1.22kg each. So, customers may get a new model with 9.8cm wide, 2.3cm high, and a weight of 0.27kg.
It is possible that Apple won’t reduce the price with the Mac Mini 2017. The cheapest, middle and priciest models are currently priced at £479, £669, and £949 respectively.
