Listen to your podcasts offline
One of the highlights of watchOS 5 lies in a new Podcasts app. This is something that’s been demanded for years among the Apple Watch community. With the Podcasts app, Apple Watch owners now can stream their podcasts from an iPhone to their wearable, without the need for a third-party app to be installed on their iOS device.
The coolest part is that you can sync and store your favorite podcasts from an iPhone to your Apple Watch so you listen to them offline. In reality, the Podcasts app were previously rumored for 2018 release as Apple announced the third generation smartwatch with LTE functionality. The adoption of LTE allows users to listen to their music on the go without the need for a nearby iPhone. To find your favorite podcasts, open the Watch app, then select Library and hit Episodes.
With Apple Watch series 4, Apple announced a brand new watch face with up to 8 complications that spice up your watch. The best part is that you can customize your watch face with things you care about. For instance, you can add your loved ones to your watch face so you can quickly connect with them with a simple tap. Or, you can create a watch face with your health and fitness details.
Despite those improvements, a number of Apple Watch owners may find them annoying and too colorful. In reality, you can enable Grayscale, an exciting feature that brings a classic look to your Watch, which is ideal for those who are color-blind. To enable the feature, launch the Watch app on your iPhone, and then tap on General and hit Accessibility. From here, turn on the switch for Grayscale under the Vision section. If you change your mind, simply repeat the process and turn off the switch.
Turn off notifications
Apple has been improving Notification Center in both iOS and watchOS for years in an attempt to offer a much-improved user experience. If you now have an iPhone connected to your Apple Watch, then you will get notifications from your phone’s apps on your watch. However, if you find this annoying, then you can disable notifications.
To do this, swipe left on a notification on your Apple Watch, then tap on the three dots button and select Turn Off on Apple Watch. Once you are done, your notifications will be sent directly to the Notification Center. This comes in handy as it eliminates the need for diving deeper into your iPhone’s settings.
Remove Walkie-Talkie app icon
watchOS 5 introduces a number of fun new features, one of which includes Walkie-Talkie. With Walkie-Talkie, users can connect to their friends and family and have a push-to-talk button on their watch. This is something we have been expecting to see for years, and it is finally here.
However, some users may find it annoying as the Walkie-Talkie app icon shows up at the top of their watch face. If you happen to sit in the group, then you can remove it from your watch face. To do this, launch the Walkie-Talkie app, then scroll all the way up to the top and turn off the switch for Available.
Force quit a frozen app
Apple Watch is pretty stable, but there are times when it becomes a cause of annoyance. A number of owners are reporting that their Watch apps crash or fail to work properly. If you are among those affected by the issue, then you can force quit an app. To do this, press and hold the Side button, and then release it when you see the Power Off screen. After that, press and hold the Digital Crown button and the app will quit.
