Last week, the @pwn20wnd team released an update to its Unc0ver jailbreak tool that adds support for jailbreaking iOS 12.4. The new update marks the first time we are seeing a jailbreak tool for Apple’s latest software update. Basically, the tool works fine and everything runs smoothly on your device after jailbreak. However, we have heard some of the issues iPhone owners are facing with the Unc0ver jailbreak tool.
With that in mind, we made a list of the most common Unc0ver jailbreak issues and possible fixes. For some background, the Unc0ver jailbreak tool is a semi-tethered jailbreak, meaning that you need to jailbreak your device again every time you reboot it.
Jailbreak Not Working
A lot of users have reported that the jailbreak process suddenly stops for unknown reasons. If you are one of those who are affected by the issue, then try turning off Find My iPhone. In reality, Find My iPhone is tied directly into your Apple ID and allows you remotely track your iPhone if it is lost or stolen.
Enabling Find My iPhone may cause the jailbreak process to stop working. To turn off Find My iPhone, open Settings on your iPhone, then tap on iCloud, and tap Find My iPhone. From here, turn off the switch for Find My iPhone (you will be asked to enter your Apple ID username and password to confirm your action).
Crash During 8/31 Process
We have heard a lot of complaints that the jailbreak tool crashes during the 8/31 process. This seems to affect a large number of users out there. Luckily, the team acknowledged the issue and released a fix for it through the latest Unc0ver 3.5.5 software update. You can download the latest update of Unc0ver from here. Once you are done, try jailbreaking your device again using the tool.
Cydia Crashing after Jailbreak
The Cydia app is the reason why you jailbreak your iOS device. Basically, Cydia is a mobile management app that allows you to access apps and services that are unauthorized by Apple. By default, you should see the Cydia app on your home screen after jailbreak, which indicates that your device has been successfully jailbroken.
However, a lot of users say that Cydia crashes after performing iOS 12.4 jailbreak. In reality, this is a common issue when it comes to jail-breaking iOS devices. In this case, try rebooting your iPhone and then jailbreak it again to see if the problem is fixed.
Another Cydia problem is that Cydia is not available after jail-breaking your device. To fix this, launch the Unc0ver jailbreak tool on your iOS device, then go to Settings. From here, select the option for re-installing Cydia and reset its cache. If the problem still persists, restart your device and then re-jailbreak it.
The Unc0ver jailbreak is one of the best tools for jailbreaking iOS 12 on the market. However, it has its own problems that may ruin your experience. Luckily, we have possible fixes for you.
