While Apple has officially released WatchOS 5.2 version for its Watch devices, and the update included a lot of bug fixes and enhancements in performance, one of the main problems that have already existed in months from the first WatchOS version, which is fast battery drain still persists on this build. Even if you have already updated your Watch to the latest version, but you still encounter the battery life problem on your Watch, then this post might be helpful for you. Solutions To Battery Drain In WatchOS 5.2 Version

Reboot Your Apple Watch

This method sounds like something out of Troubleshooting, but a reboot is a good way to kick out the bad bits.

  1. Press and hold both the digital crown and the Power button at once.
  2. Keep them until you see an Apple logo on the screen
  3. Now, let them go of.

Re-pair your Watch

The biggest reason for battery life issues with connected iOS devices happens when something gets glitchy. Whether it’s corruption or rogue processes, then un-pairing and re-pairing are helpful to get everything back into place. To do so:

  1. Open Watch app from your connected iPhone.
  2. Select your Apple Watch at the top.
  3. Tap on the information button (an “i” icon with a circle around it)
  4. Select Unpair Apple Watch.
  5. Continue to tap on Unpair Your Apple Watch to confirm.

You can also un-pair directly on your Apple Watch:

  1. Simply press the Digital Crown to switch to the app launcher.
  2. Tap on Settings > General
  3. Choose Reset all the way at the bottom.
  4. Select Erase all contents and settings.
  5. Enter your Passcode if prompted to confirm your action.

Set up your Watch as new

A clean install, in some cases, is the only cure. Of course, it’s a nuclear option.  While you need to set up everything again, since a lot of data still sync back from your iPhone, it will not be a total loss. To do that:

  1. Press and hold the Digital Crown to switch to the app launcher.
  2. Tap on Settings > General
  3. Select Reset at the bottom.
  4. Tap on Erase all contents and settings
  5. Enter your Passcode when prompted.

Wait for the process to complete. Do not restore from any backup. Instead, you should set it up as a new Watch.

Keep Your Watch Screen Black

The Apple Watch features an OLED screen, so black pixels will cost little power consumption and color pixels cost more.

To keep your Watch battery to a minimum, you should not spend much time watching photos, or apps that don’t follow the guidelines. Just check what you should check and then return to your watch face.

Pause unnecessary notifications

Push Notifications brighten up the screen, but they also turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios. On the connected iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, head to Notifications, and disable anything you don’t want to use.

Close when it’s not legitimate

Since the extension WatchOS system is good, you rarely have to worry about apps that are going rogue on your Apple Watch. But, great apps still have bad moments, so if you suspect that there is an app eating up too much power, you should force close it. Simply open the app, press firmly the Side button until the screen is off. Next, hold down the Side button again until you back to the Home screen.

Enable Power Reserve Mode

If everything is working well as you expect, but you are not close to your charger and you want to know the time as long as possible, Power Reserve mode is a great solution. Bonus

If you just need more power out of your Watch between charges, you can try a few things below to eke out as much as possible.

  • Disable Activate on Wrist Raise in the settings and the screen only brightens up when tapping on it.
  • Enable Do Not Disturb to prevent notifications from lighting up your watch, and transferring data.
  • Try Airplane mode. You can still do things like checking the time, but there is no radios activity.
