Use Markup in the Photos App in Mac for masterpieces

macOS Sierra comes with a cool feature called Markup that is built right into Photos app. The feature allows you to edit your favorite photos according to your preference. And in this guide, we will be presenting to you how to use Markup in the Photos app in Mac for masterpieces. Have a look.

Steps to find the Markup editor in the Photos app

Step 1: Open the Photos app on your Mac by clicking its icon in the dock.

Step 2: Find the photo you wish to edit, and then double-click on it.

Step 3: Next, click the edit hamburger menu in the upper right corner.

Step 4: Click Extensions at the bottom of the menu.

Step 5: Lastly, click Markup.

From now on, you can make your markup edits on your photo. Let’s go through the following sections to get the bulk of the Markup editor.

Steps to draw on your photos

You just need to click the pen or pencil button at the top left corner, and then draw your photos according to your liking.

Steps to change the thickness or texture of your lines

  • Click the pen or pencil button in the upper left corner.
  • Click the icon with three lines.
  • Select the thickness or the texture you wish to use.

Steps to change the color of your lines

  • Click the pen or pencil button in the upper left corner.
  • Click the square next to the uppercase A.
  • Click your favorite color to select it.

Steps to add shapes to your photos

  • Click the icon that looks like circle on top of a square.
  • Click the shape you wish to use.
  • Adjust the shape until it looks good.

Steps to add a border to your photos

  • Click the icon that looks like circle on top of a square.
  • Click the rectangle inside a rectangle symbol located at the bottom left of the menu.
  • Adjust the borders to your liking by clicking and dragging.

Steps to adjust border color

  • Click the rectangle inside a rectangle symbol located at the bottom left of the menu.
  • Hit the white square with the red line to locate your color options.
  • Click your favorite color, and your border will instantly become that color.

Steps to add a callout to your photos

  • Click the icon that looks like circle on top of a square.
  • Hit the lowercase with the circle on the bottom right of the menu.
  • Adjust the callout to your liking by clicking and dragging.

Steps to add text to your photos

You just need to click the icon with an uppercase T inside a box.

Steps to change your text format

  • Click the icon with an uppercase T inside a box.
  • Click the text icon with an italicized uppercase A.
  • Adjust your text with the drop down menu options.

Steps to save your changes

  • Click Save Changes in the upper right corner.
  • The edited photo will then be saved in your Photo library.
