Know how you can use Markup in Photos in iOS 10 on iPhone/iPad

iOS features a handy tool called Markup that allows you to add text, callouts, and more to your photos to give them an amazing look. In this guide, we will show you how to edit your photos to your heart’s liking with the Markup editor.

Steps to access the Markup editor

Step 1: Open the Photos app on your home screen.

Step 2: Tap on the Photos tab in the lower left corner of your screen.

Step 3: Choose the photo you wish to edit.

Step 4: Tap on the Edit button with 3 horizontal lines at the bottom.

Step 5: Tap on the More button with 3 dots inside a circle.

Step 6: Tap on Markup.

Once you are in the Markup editor, just read on to enjoy cool things.

Steps to paint on your photos

Step 1: Tap on the drawing pencil icon in the lower left corner.

Step 2: Choose the color you wish to use for painting.

Step 3: Now, just start painting on your photos.

Steps to change the thickness of your paintbrush

Step 1: Tap on the drawing pencil icon in the lower left corner.

Step 2: Tap on the icon with 3 horizontal lines.

Step 3: Choose the thickness of your paintbrush.

Steps to make a callout

Step 1: Tap the callout icon with a lowercase A to bring up a circular callout. Just touch and drag it to highlight a specific aspect of your photo.

Step 2: Touch and drag the blue dot to adjust the callout’s size, and the green dot to adjust magnification of the callout.

Step 3: Choose your favorite color from the color menu to change your callout’s color.  Tap on the icon with 3 horizontal lines to adjust the circle’s outline thickness.

Steps to add text to a photo

Step 1: Tap on the icon with an uppercase T inside a box to bring up the placeholder word Text.

Step 2: Tap on the text box, and then Edit.

Step 3: Enter the words you wish to add to the photo, and then tap on Done.

If you want to change your text’s color, you just need to head to the color menu, and choose your favorite one from it.

Steps to change the font face

Step 1: Tap on the two As in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 2: You are presented with 3 options, including Helvetica, Georgia, and Noteworthy. Just tap on it to choose a font face.

Steps to change font size

Step 1: Tap on the two As in the lower right corner of your screen.

Steps 2: Drag the slider to change your font size.

Steps to change text alignment

Step 1: Tap on the two As in the lower right corner of your screen.

Step 2: Choose the text alignment you want to change from the resulting menu.

Steps to undo a move

If you make a mistake in your markup editor, you can undo it by tapping the curved arrow in the lower right corner. You can tap on it as many times as you want.
